Achieving a successful professional pedicure involves a few essential steps to achieve impeccable results. Here is a guide to help you:
1. Prepare your tools and products.
Gather all the necessary equipment including a bowl of hot or warm water to soak your feet, a nail clipper, a cuticle pusher, a cuticle cutter, nail file, buffing block, foot rasp, exfoliant, moisturizer, nail polish, nail polish remover and cotton wool with toothpick or orange stick
2. Soak your feet.
Soak the feet for up to 15 minutes in lukewarm or hot water depending on your preference, adding a bath salt.
3. Trim and file the nails.
Use nail clippers to cut the nails to the desired length. Then file the edges to obtain a uniform shape.
*If the surface of your nails is uneven, run a polishing block over them to smooth them.
4. Push back and cut cuticles.
Use a cuticle pusher or orange stick to gently push back the cuticles. Trim excess cuticle as needed.
5. Grate your feet.
With your wooden rasp (do not use the metal one) remove the calluses with the rougher side of the rasp. Do not remove too much because your skin uses your calluses as protection! Removing too much will have the opposite effect and activate calluses! Finish with the soft side of the rasp to soften your feet.
* Do you still find your feet rough? Take a polishing block and run it over your feet!
6. Exfoliation
Use an exfoliating scrub to remove dead cells from your skin. Scrub your heels well, especially! Rinse well.
7. Mask
Treat yourself by applying a moisturizing, soothing or refreshing mask to your feet and legs, then let it act as needed. Rinse well
8. Prepare your nails
Wipe your nails with nail polish remover or alcohol to remove any product residue, this will allow the polish to adhere better.
9. Application of varnish
Very important! Apply a protective base to prevent the polish from staining the nails! wait a few minutes before adding the color apply 2 thin coats of nail polish in the color of your choice. It is very important to seal the tip of the nail and ideally not extend beyond the skin. Wait a few minutes between each coat to allow the previous coat to dry.
*depending on the opacity you want, you may need a third coat.
Once the color is applied, add a coat of matte or glossy finishing varnish according to your taste!
add OPI Drip Dry to help dry your varnish
*If you have colored nail polish on your skin, don't panic! take an orange stick or a toothpick, dip it in nail polish remover, wrap it in a little cotton wool to create a very thin cotton swab, dip the cotton wool in nail polish remover and clean off the excess varnish if needed
10. Hydration
Apply a generous amount of foot cream and massage well, making the product penetrate!
*if your feet are very dry, add a touch of oil to your cream!
Remember, practice and patience are important in perfecting your pedicure skills!
